Asisi Panorama Berlin
The monumental panorama of Yadegar Asisi focuses on the Cold War and the German-German division in Berlin.
The Persian artist worked on this panorama for 3 years. His gaze is that of a contemporary witness, because he himself lived in the district he is re-enacting. The Panorama depicts everyday life at the Berlin Wall outside of tragic events. For the 15 meters high and 60 meters long, panoramic picture a visitor tower was built.
20 panels were printed and stapled together. The visitors dive into the Berlin of the 1980s. On a gray autumn day, you can take a look from the west over to the east. Music mixed with sound recordings from the time strengthen the illusion. If you let the panorama sink in for a while it's hard to believe that it looked exactly like this for almost three decades.
A photo exhibition on the building of the panorama and the work of Mr Asisi complete the visit. After leaving the panorama world, visitors usually feel overwhelmed, depressed and enthusiastic.
