Pariser Platz
On the occasion of the conquest of Paris by Prussian troops it was named "Pariser Platz" in 1814. The Pariser Platz was very close to the border between Berlin west and east. Since the erection of the wall in 1961 it was part of the death strip and blocked.
Since 1989 it has been freely accessible for pedestrians again. After the reunification of the Pariser Platz was redeveloped.
The Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor), which you can find at Pariser Platz, is one of Berlin's symbols. In close proximity to it you can stroll through the Tiergarten and visit the Reichstag or the Holocaust memorial.
