After seven years of construction, the restored Berlin State Opera Berlin Unter den Linden presents itself in a new, modern splendor. Lovers of classical music now have the choice between three Berlin operas: the Komische Oper, the Deutsche Oper and the State Opera – this is unique in the world.
It is the first opera house and the most significant cultural and historical theater building in the city. Built in 1743 in the historic center, it was then the largest opera house in Europe. Throughout history, many great names such as Bartholdy, Strauss and Karajan have influenced the events in the State Opera. With better acoustics, new technology and more visibility for visitors, the masterful dome of the marble hall, and the opera's detailed rococo decorations provide a breathtaking ambience. You feel like you're back in time. The performances of Mozart's Magic Flute, which are presented in the original stage design by Friedrich Karl Schinkel from the year 1816, are a very special experience. Berlin offers many other cultural attractions. Just around the corner from the State Opera is the Museum Island and the Cultural Center of Berlin. For tickets please click here.
