See the most interesting sightseeing attractions Berlin has to offer in one day. Here is an example

on how the tour could look like: The day you arrive, take it easy because it’s probably gonna be a long day of travelling for you so just check into your hostel or hotel and check out a nice restaurant that’s close to where you’re staying to get a bite to eat and maybe have a drink before getting a good night’s sleep. Get up early the next morning, it’s going to be a long day so have a good breakfast and get some coffee in your system.

Let’s start at the S+U-Bahnhof Warschauer Straße as it’s easy to reach from any place in the city. From the station you can walk over the bridge towards the famous Oberbaumbrücke on the way you can see the Mercedes Benz Arena which is the location for many events. Walking towards the “Oberbaumbrücke” you can check out the East Side Gallery, which is the longest remaining part of the Berlin Wall and at the same time the biggest open air gallery. Walk along the East Side Gallery to get to “Ostbahnhof”.

From Ostbahnhof to Alexanderplatz

There you can take the S-Bahn to our next stop Berlin Alexanderplatz (take S5/S7 or S75). There you can visit the TV Tower and the World Clock. If you want to go up on the TV Tower it’s always clever to book your ticket ahead online so you can skip the cue. We go on passing the St. Marienkirche (church) to reach the Neptunbrunnen (a fountain). After that keep right to get to “Karl-Liebknecht-Straße”, which leads you directly to the cathedral. Right next to it you can find the Domaquareé. If you’re feeling ready for lunch now, you can check out “Andy’s Diner” which offers really tasty burgers! You’re also directly by the river Spree now. Do your feet need a break from walking? Well than you can take a water taxi that gives you a 1h long tour along the Spree explaining everything you will see along the way. When you get off the boat you should take a closer look at the cathedral with it’s impressive dome at the “Schlossplatz”. Right from the cathedral you can visit the Museum Island with its many interesting museums. We go on passing the “Lustgarten” at the “Alte Museum” and cross the “Schlossbrücke” (bridge) to get to the famous Humboldt University. Across the street from the University is the Bebelplatz. If your feed get tired jump on the bus 100 or 200 (on the right side of the street) and stop at Brandenburger Tor which is probably the most famous sight in Berlin.

The complete route will take around 2 hours - although you'll have the freedom to jump on or off throughout the validity of your ticket.

Walking through the gate you can see the glas dome of the Reichstag which is a 10 minute walk away. If you want to visit the glass dome I would recommend you to book your ticket online to skip the cue. If you take a turn to the left behind the Brandenburger Tor you can visit the Jewish Memorial which shell remind of the victims of the 2. World War. If you walk on you will get straight to the Potsdamer Platz and the famous “Sony Centre”. There you can even see a movie in original language, for everyone who doesn’t speak german. At Potsdamer Platz / Stresemannstraße you can walk or take the bus M41(direction Sonnenallee/Baumschulenweg) to our next stop.

From Anhalter Bahnhof to Checkpoint Charlie

Get out at Anhalter Bahnhof and change to the bus M29 (direction Hermannplatz) to get to Kochstraße/Checkpoint Charlie. Now you arrived at the last part of our tour which is the former border crossing point at Friedrichstraße. From here you can also walk up the Friedrichstraße and get diner at one of the nice restaurants around. Or you can just take a bus to S+U-Bahnhof Friedrichstraße from there you can easily get to every part of the city. You can also take the S-Bahn to Hackescher Markt and have a nice cocktail or some international food. In any case I hope you enjoy that tour, I did it a few times with visitors and they always loved it - well, it’s hard not to love Berlin, right?!
