UM:LAUT – “Empathy” Concert - Dance Crossover
Neon Dance with Casper Clausen, Mads Brauer (Efterklang) and more.
Um:Laut is a platform for artists and labels,
who use different musical traditions and nevertheless realize ambitious projects, free of genre boundaries. The focus of the series, curated by Ben Czernek and Hannes Frey, is on interspaces and intersections, on the experimental range of classical and electronic instrumentation, composition and improvisation, club and concert hall.
UM: LAUT promotes, in particular, the dialogue with other art forms - music as a stimulus for film, video, photography, installation, dance and performance. An experimental field for cooperation between artists from different disciplines.
What distinguishes us as human beings from other creatures? What moves us to react empathically in certain situations? Inspired by the researches of Simon Baron-Cohens ( "Zero Degrees of Empathy"), the London performance collective Neon Dance explores the human capacity for compassion in his latest production both musically and scenicly. For the UM: LAUT series in the RADIALSYSTEM V, "Empathy" will be extended to an interdisciplinary live music version for the first time: Five dancers will meet in a set design designed with light and laser technology for the sound tricks Casper Clausen and Mads Brauer Efterklang, Liima), the New York multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily and the Icelandic cellist Gyða Valtýsdóttir (Múm).
