Free Open-Air Concerts: Berlin's summer becomes a sound paradise with Jazz at the Kaisersteg from June 17 to September 23
Experience the symphony of the senses in Berlin: When summer reaches its zenith, Hasselwerder Park in Treptow transforms into the shimmering epicenter of the jazz scene. The jazz concert series "Jazz am Kaisersteg," an unparalleled experience under the starry sky, draws music enthusiasts with its high-caliber lineup in droves.
Right next to the picturesque Spree, framed by majestic greenery, the summer wind carries cool jazz sounds from the open-air stage across the city. The pinnacle of musical enjoyment usually takes place on weekend afternoons. The event series has established itself as a staple of summer activities for families and is part of the vibrant heart of Berlin's open-air concerts.
The virtuosity of Jazzkeller69, in creating connections between musicians and the audience, is almost indescribable. With a passionate crew at their backs, they make an immeasurable contribution to the Berlin jazz scene by organizing exciting concerts throughout the city all year round. A special treat is the summer program in Schöneweide, the green jewel on the Spree, deep in the heart of the former industrial area. Here, Jazzkeller69 has been hosting weekly free open-air concerts for many years.
Surrounded by trees, with the scent of grilled sausage in the air and the music echoing from the stage, it's easy to ignore the passing party boats and fully immerse oneself in the performances of predominantly Berlin artists. This year's rich program promises an impressive mix of large ensembles and small, intimate groups, where the power of musical relationships comes to light.
The opening concert, with the Bottom Orchestra as the first of several large ensembles, connects the music scenes of Cologne, Basel, and Berlin. The close link between the musicians is further intensified when, a few weeks later, the Philipp Rumsch Ensemble performs with young talents from Leipzig, Berlin, and beyond. In August, guitarist Joe Sachse brings his fiery style to the stage with trombonist Nils Wogram.
The open-air concerts in Berlin are a sensory journey through the world of music, free of charge and under the open sky. They allow everyone to discover something new and unexpected and form their own musical connections.
