Berlinale for Everybody - Free events around the Filmfestival from 15. February until 25. February 2018
Once a year, Berlin becomes a hot spot for the rich and famous from the film industry. The Berlin International Film Festival,
short Berlinale, is one of the most important film festivals in the world alongside Cannes and Venice. More than 400 films are presented in different sections. The tickets are usually very expensive and quickly sold out. But even if you can not afford the tickets for the Berlinale, it is still worthwhile to be there, because the unique atmosphere and the extensive free program offer the opportunity to be close to the action.
Traditionally, the Berlinale always offers an exciting free program.
A special highlight are the live performances and post-film discussions with film teams and stars, where everyone is invited to listen and ask questions.
There are also other public events such as the Berlinale Open House. This is a public format directly at the red carpet of the Berlinale Palast in the Audi Lounge. It attracts with 20 different events, including information lectures, late night lounges, movie talks, DJ sets with actors, etc. From here you have one great view on the red carpet.
The Berlinale Night Talk from 10pm to 12pm in the XXL bar of the Cinemaxx, hosted by Knut Elstermann, has daily well-known film critics, directors and actors as guest, and invites to discuss and listen. It is public for all and also very suitable after the long movie to treat yourself to a nightcap.
Parallel to the Berlinale, the sister film festival Boddinale takes place in Neukölln. It's the counterpart, so to speak, and shows low-budget movies every day from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm, free admission. Here you can discover one or the other insider tip, and often there are also famous stars sometimes gathering around. So, you do not always have to dig deep into your pocket to experience the Berlinale, you can also be very close for free. Have fun!
