Flying Christmas Trees in Berlin - Christmas tree throw - on the 6th of January 2018
You always wanted to throw a tree? Then come to the big tree throwing championship in Berlin! Prickly spears will dominate
the picture of the Ikea parking lot about two weeks after Christmas. "Tree flies" is the motto of the “Knut Baumweitwurf” championship. On “Knut” the Swedes traditionally throw their Christmas trees out of the windows. As always, this Swedish tradition is celebrated annually in the 4 Berlin Ikea branches Tempelhof, Spandau, Lichtenberg and Waltersdorf. Everyone can participate. There are three different sized trees for women, men and children, so everything stays fair. The best technique, the experts say, seems to be to turn around hammer-throwing and then to throw. There are great prizes to win and delicious Swedish snacks that warm your heart and stomach. You can also buy some mulled wine or non-alcoholic Glögg. Participate at this funny event, and with a bit of luck and a good throwing technique you might soon be the new Knut-Christmas-throwing champion!
