At first glance, you might think the long line at Mehringdamm in Kreuzberg is for a theater box office. But no, this is the line for a döner stand that stretches 50 meters at any time of day or night. Why here, of all places? It’s just an unassuming street food stand—and döner shops are hardly rare in Berlin, with seemingly one on every corner.
But Mustafa’s Gemüse Kebap has reinvented the döner. Unlike other kebap shops, Mustafa serves his döner meat with grilled and fresh vegetables, a secret spice mix, perfectly seasoned sauces, and a generous sprinkle of feta cheese on top. That’s why hundreds of people line up daily to taste Berlin’s most famous döner. Some tourists even come straight from the airport just to grab one.
If you’re unable to make it to Mehringdamm, Mustafa’s also has a location near Hackescher Markt. And if you’d like to explore more of Kreuzberg’s multicultural charm, see our “Berlin Tours” category!
