Day of the open monument in Berlin - 07. and 08. September 2019

On the occasion of the Open Monument Day, the public will be made aware of the importance of the cultural heritage and their interest in the preservation of historical monuments will be awakened.

Every year in September, the project opens historical buildings and facilities that would otherwise be inaccessible or only partially accessible. The year before last, more than 4.5 million visitors throughout Germany visited the more than 8000 monuments on the Open Monument Day.

Visitors can take part in guided tours, during which monument conservators report on their activities using vivid examples. In addition, archaeologists, restorers and craftsmen show their daily work with monuments. The programme booklets are available free of charge from the Landesdenkmalamt Berlin in the immediate vicinity of the event. In 2019, the Open Monument Day will focus on "Modernity. Modern. Berlin".
