Dance and Politics in One - Tanztage Berlin at the Sophienasele - 09 to 19 January, 2019

This year of dancing in Berlin is ushered in with the annual Tanztage (Dance Days). Young artists and choreographers from Berlin then present their new works in all rooms of the Sophiensaele. For 22 years, this event has served as a firmly integrated platform for young Berlin choreographers, but also for people who simply feel an interest in contemporary dance art. As always, it will be integrated into the structures of our daily lives. The artists explore the significance of dance in society and try to open up a new perspective on reality. For example, everyday gestures such as embracing are integrated into the programme. Political analysis will also present poetic dances in conjunction with visual arts, mostly inspired by current political themes. Each year, a different non-European dance scene is put in the spotlight.
