Shalom Berlin! - Days of Jewish Culture - From November 3 -11 November 2018
Did you know that the Jewish community in Berlin is the fastest growing in the world? That should be celebrated, right?
If you, like me, know too little about Jewish culture and would like to know more about it then the Jewish Culture Days are just what you are looking for! This festival is not only for Jews, but also, and especially, for the citizens of Berlin and their guests. With the peaceful greeting "Shalom Berlin" the Jewish community welcomes our city and its visitors, and it is also the motto of the Jewish Culture Days, which take place for the 30th time already. In the eight days from the 4th to the 12th of November, the Jewish community will once again provide fascinating and surprising insights into the diversity of Jewish culture in Berlin and Israel.
You can enjoy a variety of events with music, literature or theater in different parts of the city. From the grand opening in the splendid Synagogue in Rykestraße, where the "golden David" from Israel will perform for the first time, to a Jewish foodmarket, films, readings and a heavy metal band from Tel Aviv. The open day at the Jewish Community House is also part of the program. For your little ones there is even a children's program in Yiddish. There are also thought-provoking events, with a musical commemoration and an exhibition that shows the daily life of Berlin Jews, who get insight into Jewish culture and Jewish life in Germany today. Look forward to a colorful program and very special Jewish Cultural days that invite you to reflect, marvel and linger!
