The Story of Berlin
The Story of Berlin is an exciting journey through 800 years of Berlin’s history.
Opened in 1999, the permanent exhibition covers around 6,000 square metres and presents Berlin history from the first mention of the city to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 21 walk-in themed rooms. Artistically designed backdrops, modern multimedia technology and original exhibits, such as a state car by Erich Honecker, give visitors an authentic impression of the life of the Berliners at the time. All the senses are used through sound recordings, perceptible smells and tactile stimuli. Due to the unusual presentation of history, the exhibition is also aimed at an audience that does not regularly visit museums.
Renovation works from 1st of December 2018
The exhibition The Story of Berlin will be closed down on December 1st 2018. Until that day we are open every day from 10 am to 8 pm.
Due to construction work, the entrance to the building is currently on Kurfürstendamm 206.
